NM Sunsets.

sunset

New Mexico sunsets are stunning! Here is a shot I took after a shoot and really, the night, the sky, the clouds, it could not have been more perfect. As I see God’s glorious works I am in awe of what He does and how He just paints the sky to show us a glimpse of his glory. That He gives us these beautiful things as reminders of Him in this fallen world.

Think on him this weekend. As you go about your busy lives, remember Him in a mighty way. Let Him move you. Let Him into your core and change you. Give to Him your time this weekend so that He might fill your soul.

“For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.” Psalm 107:9

Being Intentional

One of the things no one told me about being a mother is how intentional I’m going to have to be. It’s (seemingly) easy to answer a crying baby or a toddlers plea for something. It’s easy to see the areas of my house that desperately need my attention. I can fill my day with these things without being intentional about any of it. It’s a lot like auto-pilate really.

But that is not my calling. The Lord requires more from me. He is not satisfied with my popcorn prayers through out the day. He is not satisfied if I give him left over moments just before nodding off to sleep. And He will grow wearing of being ignored.

This is something that every mother should be told before bringing her babies home. Or really every wife before taking her vows. And even still, every child as they are being trained in the ways of the Lord. Life must be intentional. Our relationships with the Lord MUST be intentional.

I will not stumble on extra time in the morning before the babies arise. I will not gain extra moments in the twilight to meditate on things of Him. I must carve those out of my schedule.

For me this is my place. This is where I have created moments to meet with Him. Yes, I believe He meets us anywhere, but I also believe there must be an anchor for our hearts. Early in the morning, before the babies start stirring this is where I come. I choose the morning because that is the only time I can be alone. But it can be anytime really, just where you can meet with Him and hear His hearts cry.

Sometimes it is mighty and moving and others its just enough for the day. And when it is brightened by the site of life that He gives, thanks to my wonderful sister, it seems all the more sweet.

The Lord deeply yearns for us to give Him all of ourselves. When we do He can begin to refine us. Chisel away at your daily routine a little. Fine and place and some time to give to Him. He will meet you there and He will begin to peal the layers of your soul.

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” Deuteronomy 6:4-9

For Today...

Another blog idea... these are so much fun! :) Click the above picture to visit this site, it is very inspirational to me and my quest to being a homemaker.

FOR TODAY...
Outside My Window... It's warm, but there is a hint of coolness in the breeze. It makes me wish it was feeling more like fall and less like Dallas.

I am thinking... sleeping babies are oh-so-nice, as well as, what the heck will I cook for dinner?

I am thankful for... my sweet husband and all the hard work he puts in to give me the life of my dreams.

From the kitchen... dirty dishes piled high and no inspiration to do them quite yet.

I am wearing... a great pair of jeans, an old brown and peach striped tee and brown flip-flops (I wear only flip-flops until its below 65*).

I am creating... not a thing right now... I need to dust off that crafty bone I have and put it to use!

I am going... to be a better housekeeper and wife... one of these days!

I am reading... "What's the difference? Manhood and Womanhood Defined According to the Bible" John Piper

I am hoping... that Ryland sleeps through the night tonight.

I am hearing... silence... nothing is on in the house right now and all my babies are sleeping (Ry, the dog and the cat).

Around the house... recovering from wonderful company (my parents) this weekend so my motivation to do anything is slim to none.

One of my favorite things... a tall glass of lemonade would be great right now.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: birthday parties and wedding showers this weekend, so this week will entail shopping... yeah!

Here is picture thought I am sharing...
